SDAC was established as government body having its own legal personality. The mandate of ‎SDAC is to accredit, by formal third party recognition, the competence of conformity ‎assessment bodies (CABs) to perform specific activities, such as test, calibration, certification ‎or inspection.‎
Establishment of SDAC as a national accreditation body for Sudan is based on the following ‎document:‎
• ‎ Validation of the Council as independent entity (Feb/2015). ‎
• ‎ Council foundation decision (Jun/2015). ‎
• Appointment of the Secretary General (Aug/2015). ‎
• Approval of organization and functional structures (June/2016).‎
SDAC is member of Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC) and Accreditation committee of ‎the Standard and Metrology institute for the Islamic countries (SMIIC-AC).‎
